Symphonic, Progressive Metal project TDW has released a music video for the song “Remembrance” last night (20th of March) through YouTube to start the promo cycle for the upcoming “Bane of the Talebearer OST” album.
Watch the video here:
The video, recorded in a medieval chapel in the city of Amersfoort, features the musical talents of Clark McMenemy (Ihlo), Galen Stapley (Twilight Force), Lennert Kemper (Ex-Dreamwalkers Inc, Ex-Elithium), Tristan Turner (Abraham Sarache), Stan Eimers (Ex-Pyrolysis), Pipi Gogerl (Ancient Fragments, Novena), Felix Luca King (Disconnected Souls), Mika Marbles & Mariana Jonas besides Tom himself, making it a rare who’s who of modern symphonic, progressive and power metal musicians coming together to perform this track.
This project and the enormous album was created by Tom de Wit (The main guy behind TDW) with the help of 35 guest musicians and 12 visual artists from 12 different countries. All contributing to the album that is released on CD and USB, as wel as the 80 page full color artbook that accompanies this project.
However, when looking at this 73 song behemoth of a project… It seems that only one song has vocals… This one. And the rest is mostly instrumental. When we asked Tom about this, he laughed and said:
“I know this will seem like complete madness to most. Releasing an album with 73 songs that mostly are instrumental or have choir parts IN OLD DUTCH and featuring almost no “traditional” songs like I did in my career so far. (Except that my music isnt very traditional, but hey) But it makes sense.
For me Bane of the Talebearer was a way to spread my creative wings and try new things I wanted to do for a longer time. And making this video and single on this album felt like something I wanted to do to show the world that this project is real, alive and deserving of existence on all the fronts it covers. The music on this record is the soundtrack to all of it. So the show, the future videogame and whatever else we want to do.
So if anyone expects a progmetal album like I did before, they might need to adjust their expectations. But if you are open to musical diversity and an adventure with a lot of depth, you got a whole new world to dive into now.”
The “Bane of the Talebearer OST” is coming out on the 29th of May 2026 through Layered Reality Productions on triple audio CD and will also be available on a branded USB stick and select music streaming services such as Bandcamp, Apple Music, YouTube music etc. (Please note that the music of TDW is no longer available on spotify and will not be in the forseeable future.)
