And with a flash not unlike the fragments of consciousness that they unleashed upon the world before, Disconnected Souls returns with their new EP Spectral! A release that is equal parts catchy and ambient but also hits with a proper gut punch when needed.
Besides being a group that stands on it’s own creatively, Spectral provides some new twists and turns (With some bandmembers even switching instruments) showing a deep desire to bring the music of the band to new places with every release. The band is joined on this release by singer Jessie Powell who adds an extra color to the allready multifaceted pallette of musical influences.
The track dives into a very modern and recognizable subject, as singer and lyricist Patrick Lloyd muses:
“The lyrics of Spectral are about how society lends itself to isolation and overwork, preventing us from living our lives in a purposeful and healthy way. The Japanese term “karoshi” comes to mind. As far as I can see, this is only getting worse with time, so we need to make changes, and fight back against our fates, before we fade away.”
