The song showcases Avandra's heavier progressive metal side fusing high tempo riffing and drumbeats with the by now familiar trademark melancholy in the melodies and lyrics. Featuring both concept footage based on the albums' story and live footage from the intense show the band played at Progpower Europe featuring keyboardist @vikramshankarmusic Shankar as a guest performer, this video has become an intense ride. Christian Ayala, the band's singer/guitarist had the following to say about the track: 'This song deals with the concepts of loss, trauma, dealing with guilt and the searching of mnemonic representations of past loved ones whose face one is eager to recall.' Coinciding with this video, Avandra has started this new albums' preorder campaign today on both their own site and the label site! And thanks to our friends at The Progspace, the video is getting an exclusive premiere through their website right now!!! The band's main writer and guitarist Andrew Stout explains what the song and video are about, saying: "Absent Familiarity is a tale that explores themes of narcissism and the delusions of granduer through the protagonist. As the story progresses, you see them commit a series of actions that go from using others for their personal gain to flaunting their ego in a way that hurts their relationships. At some point, the protagonist goes through a crossroads led by their choices. This is the story of a person that chooses to unapologetically maintain that toxicity." The music video might be different from what you would normally expect from a progmetal music video but that is also exactly why we at Layered Reality are excited about it!     #linkinbio Fans of progmetal can rejoice, becaus #linkinbio Fans of progmetal can rejoice, because Avandra is back with a brand new single and video for the song 'Codename:Pharaoh'! This song is the first track on the upcoming new album Prodigal which is slated for release on the 18th of November 2022 through Layered Reality Productions. The band's singer and guitarist, Christian Ayala had the following to say about the track: "The cycle of war begins again, and its concept made material. The Eisenhower speech throughout the song warns of the dangers of unifying the private sector’s military industrial complex with the government, which would lead to eternal wars in the interest of war-oriented corporations and bribed congress members. The warning was not heeded, and the events of the album unfold." The album will be released on CD digipack format and through all major digital music distributors worldwide.
